DM Electrical & Construction was contracted by the City of Houston to perform the electrical restoration and rehabilitation of the historic Mecom Fountain lighting system. The project focused on restoring safe and reliable operation of the fountain’s electrical infrastructure while improving long-term system performance and durability.
Project scope included replacement of all existing electrical boxes supplying power to fountain lighting fixtures, replacement of existing SEOOW cable from submersible junction boxes to fixtures, and installation of new wiring from electrical panels to junction boxes. The team also replaced nonworking and burnt-out lamps with new owner-provided lamps, installed new fixture gaskets, and properly sealed all junction boxes with epoxy to protect against water intrusion and environmental exposure.
Additional upgrades included replacement of existing contactors, relays, and time clocks with new equipment to improve operational reliability and system control. Upon completion, DM Electrical fully commissioned the system to ensure proper functionality and performance of all restored fountain lighting components.
